About Hodge

C.J. Hodge III, a talented artist with roots in New Jersey, is capturing the imagination of art enthusiasts across the country and beyond with his vibrant and thought-provoking works. Raised by a creative mother and a medical doctor father, Hodge has always found himself at the intersection of art and intellect, leading him to a fulfilling career in the arts. Hodge's artistic journey began during his time as a student at Syracuse University, where he first showcased his work in galleries. Guided by the mentorship of notable figures such as Ludwig Stein, Gary Trento, and Jerome Witkin, he honed his skills and developed a distinctive style that reflects his diverse experiences living in various parts of the United States and the United Kingdom. In a recent interview, Hodge shared insights into his creative process, stating, "I have experimented with several styles and allowed my art to control me rather than trying to control it."

This philosophy has led him to create pieces that are rich in both color and complexity, often highlighting patterns found in nature that resonate deeply with viewers. A signature element of Hodge's work is the inclusion of hidden images—logos and everyday objects that often go unnoticed—inviting a deeper exploration of the themes within each piece. "I enjoy using colors that bring joy and happiness to those who see them," Hodge expressed, underscoring his desire to evoke positivity through his art. Having earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in 1987 and a Master of Science in Art Education in 1997, Hodge continues to inspire others with his passion and creativity. As he embarks on his next projects, he hopes that audiences will not only appreciate his work but also engage with the deeper meanings woven throughout. C.J. Hodge III's journey is a testament to the power of art in shaping experiences and conveying emotions. Stay tuned for upcoming exhibitions that promise to showcase the dynamic and joyful essence of his artistic vision.
