"Washing Away My Sorrows" is a series created by Marissa Oosterlee that focuses on the deep inner thoughts of the human consciousness. Additionally, the artist uses this subject to reference her concerns regarding pollution,  climate change and how these issues affect our oceans and all its living creatures. Marissa believes the beauty of all living creatures must be preserved and hopes that these artworks will offer  a constant visual reminder. Oosterlee is optimistic that each collector will discover that his or her own secret sorrows will be washed away as they look at crisp, clean, streaming water in her images. Water symbolizes; Life, Fertility, Energy, Birth and Refreshment. Streaming water represents change and past tense.
