The Binary Code Series
This series features a collection of paintings with binary code messages. It occurred to me that binary code is the new universal language. Every text we send and everything we do online is via binary code. People of virtually every nation now communicate and get information online.
In another line of thought, Tibetan and Nepalese Buddhists believe that the messages printed on their prayer flags are carried indefinitely by the wind. I believe the same about works of art; the intention put into a work of art continues to emanate from the painting long after the paint dries.
With these two seemingly unrelated thoughts in mind, I decided to create a series of positive messages in binary code that people long to and deserve to hear. They can all be appropriately whispered or yelled enthusiastically. Each piece is entitled with the translation of the binary code message in the painting.

This painting depicts the binary code message “Fuck ‘em if they can’t take a joke”This is a battle cry for authenticity in an inauthentic world… or as Baby Boomers and Gen X’ers would say “be true to yourself” and Millennials would say “do you.”I prefer to keep it real with these choice words.
“Revolution-Evolution-Love”, 48 x 36 Acrylic on wood panel
A binary code message that reads “revolution” backwards and “evolution” backwards and “love” forward. the letters L-o-v-e- are painted next to the binary code spelling the same. What does this mean? My intention is to proclaim love to be the driving force, mechanism, and objective of revolution and societal evolution. We need a revolution of love for ourselves, our neighbors and the natural world.
